Respect-time prayer is performed when one is in a state of ritual impurity (lack of water or soil for tayammum) or cannot face the Qibla. These prayers must be replaced (qada) once the conditions (water/soil/Qibla) are met. You may also combine and shorten these prayers while still a traveler. If you have returned home, the prayer must be replaced in full.
Conditions include: 1) Travel distance exceeding 2 marhalah (approx. 81km), 2) Intent to travel, 3) Leaving the residential area boundaries, 4) Traveling for a permissible purpose in Shariah.
